So my fellow vegan and vegetarian travellers, or even just anyone who can appreciate good food. Look no further!
I have even broken them down into categories so you can quickly and easily find what it is you are craving.
So let’s get stuck in and explore where you can find the BEST vegan food in Amsterdam.

Vegan Burgers & Junk Food
These are our 5 top vegan burger and junk food places in Amsterdam;
Vegan Junk food bar
These guys have got 3 locations in Amsterdam and are our personal favourite when it comes to getting our junk food fix. They serve their famous burgers in bright pink and blue buns making them extra fun to try.
They also have a selection of their own brightly coloured sauces that you can buy to take home with you. We love their garlic sauce.
Besides burgers they also so mac and cheese balls and battered vegan shrimp.
Miami Burger
Miami Burger does really great vegan burgers and they claim to put a healthy spin on our beloved junk food. Besides their yummy burgers, my favourite dish was their vegan chicken nuggets. Maybe not the healthiest, but that’s the whole point of junk food.
They also have a full selection of classic yummy sides that are all amazing, especially the loaded fries.
Meatless District
There are 2 of these bad boys in Amsterdam. They specialise in great Vegan burgers.
Maoz
Moaz is a chain of fully vegan Falafel shops in Amsterdam. This was my go-to for quick and tasty lunches when I worked in Amsterdam. They do Pitas or salad bowls with a choice of falafel, mushroom shwarma or fried aubergine.
You then help yourself to the salad bar and they do free refills!!!
Helin vegan doner
This is Guido’s favourite stop for great Vegan Doner Kebabs. Styled like a traditional doner take away but the entire thing is vegan and the kebabs are delicious.

Vegan Restaurants
In our opinion, these are the best 3 vegan restaurants in Amsterdam;
Mooshka Vegan soul food
This restaurant has a really nice atmosphere and is the perfect place to enjoy a more sophisticated evening meal. Ideal for date night.
Their menu is one of the most diverse menus I have come across in Amsterdam when it comes to Vegan food. They serve everything from burgers to risotto, traditional Ethiopian dishes to healthy salads, Indian food and Tacos.
You are guaranteed to find something to your liking here.
Golden Temple
The Golden Temple Indian restaurant serves traditional Indian dishes (and pizzas). But perhaps what makes this place so fun is the authentic decorations and layout of the restaurant. They even have some seating using traditional floor cushions to give you a real taste of Indian dining.
Vegan Indian
The Vegan Indian is probably our most visited Vegan spot in Amsterdam. Whilst not entirely vegan, we still love them! They are technically 2 restaurants under one roof, the Vegan Indian and a regular Indian restaurant.
They do have a huge separate vegan menu. You just need to specify when you get there that you would like the vegan menu. The dishes are all amazing and so full of flavour.

Vegan Cafes
When it comes to vegan cafes, these are our top 4;
Koffie ende Koeck
This is a super popular vegan cafe and bakery but be sure to get there early before all the best vegan treats are gone.
SOIL Vegan Café
There are in fact 2 SOIL cafes in Amsterdam. One on the east side of the city and one on the west. They offer a selection of burgers, bowls and salads with a focus on alternative meats and rich flavours. Their Big Ben Noodles are the best!
Spirit
Located towards Amsterdam East, this trendy breakfast and lunch spot is in a buffet-style layout. You grab a plate fill up from their huge selection of hot and cold foods and then pay for your meal based on the weight of your plate.
This cafe also has a nice view of the old windmill next door, which is nice to enjoy on a hot summer’s day.
Cafe De Ceuvel
This super hipster cafe is in Amsterdam North, just hop on the ferry and enjoy lunch or dinner by the water. They have a huge seating area outside as well as inside.
Their menu is more geared towards healthy eating and finer dining than the junk food scene.

Vegan Sushi
Vegan sushi is becoming super popular and luckily for those visiting Amsterdam, there are 2 great Vegan sushi places, on the same street!
Plant based Sushi
This vegan sushi place has a sophisticated and flavourful menu. You can enjoy sushi with veggies, mushrooms or seitan.
Vegan Sushi Bar
The Vegan sushi bar was the first all-vegan sushi restaurant to come to Amsterdam.
Vegan Pizza
Pizza is always a popular option and finding a good cheesy vegan pizza can sometimes be a challenge. Well, not to worry because these 2 vegan Italian restaurants will not disappoint.
Mastino
Mastino offers a big range of fun and even colourful vegan pizzas in their cute diner-style restaurant. All their pizzas are served in a box and some are even heart-shaped. We love that!
Trevis
Trevis is our favourite vegan Italian in Amsterdam. It is a very small restaurant so you need to call and book in advance. They serve the most authentic and delicious vegan Italian food including pizzas, pasta and gnocchi.
Having been to Italy on more than one occasion I can safely say this food is the real deal.
Vegan Sweet Treats
Of course, we had to include some options for a sweet treat, so here are our 2 favourites.
Happy Pig Pancake shop
This pancake shop was the first one I ever went to in Amsterdam many, MANY years ago. It is not fully vegan but they have both vegan traditional Dutch pancakes and vegan waffles on their menu.
They are absolutely amazing.
Mr Stacks
Mr stacks is a fully vegan pancake shop that serves both sweet and savoury pancake stacks. They look and taste incredible. This is a great spot to grab brunch.

Where To Buy Vegan Groceries
In case you were in need of some groceries or are planning to do some cooking whilst in Amsterdam then you’ll need to stop by a supermarket. All of the big chain supermarkets like Albert Heijn and Jumbo have loads of vegan products now. Even in their smaller city stores.
However, if you are looking for more organic, healthy food style, local vegan products then this is the shop for you;
Ekoplaza
There is a chain of supermarkets called Ekoplaza that sell everything from whole foods to fresh fruits and vegetables and tonnes of vegan items that can be hard to find elsewhere.
